A MILLION LOST DOGS Is this mess around me a symbol of my life And when something drops, then will I fall down My favourite plant is here, it also has my name It died in the winter with a million lost dogs Words seem so strange when they.. When they can't explain And reason is weak only when it rhymes On a day that won't last What a shame that we couldn't live in this town And let it be our house And were struggling, and we're trying so hard Just to keep our pride these days These are such desperate times I want to see them end Where we fit in....where we fit in I'll wait for you on the field when the storm is gone I wait til night sets in I know that you won't show You won't show With scope that's really daunting When options seemed so few Just what really happened Where did I go wrong Words seem so strange when they.. When they can't explain And reason is weak only when it rhymes On a day that won't last What a shame that we couldn't live in this town And let it be our house And were struggling, and we're trying so hard Just to keep our pride these days These are such desperate times I want to see them end Where we fit in....where we fit in © 2006 Andrew Day.

MODERN CONDITION I wake up in the sun every single day I'm watching space and I don't see you I think about you now I think about you every day I write another line I look out on the world Now its gone And I wonder where you are I wonder where you are I wonder where you are Rain falling down every single day Nothing really happened on the day you went away I guess we always knew that this day would come Crashing like a tidal wave Here we go again its no use in fighting What we can't control Somewhere on the streets Twelve million people rush around alone each day We catch each others eyes then we look away Why do we always look down Could there be a better feeling than this hopelessness To push on us onto that which we have denied for so long © 2006 Andrew Day.

WHEN WE FIGHT LIKE THIS In an act of desperation I threw my hopes off Watch the distance Just another lesson And then it put me in my place Nothing ever this early Was meant to be this easy Nothing ever this easy Was meant to be this great I think I can cope with the pressure like this I think I can live when it splits my head But when we fight like this we can't see straight I'll give you what you want, just wait for me Can you keep a promise Because I'm telling this just to you If we make a pact Then will you follow it through Days they sometimes go this way And when it happens it's a shame Because you know this world is dark And its never gonna change Silver line white time gold heart red start Headline no sign up down in my town Big smile crying lying frantic all ecstatic Up down in my town Silver line white time gold heart head start Redline no sign up down in my town Big smile crying lying frantic all ecstatic Up down in my town © 2006 Andrew Day.

ON YOUR PEACEFUL DAY When your guard was down You bowed and let the sun take a piece of you And on your peaceful day they all moved in And home was never the same Did they break you down you know when it shows Its alright to be scared Did they let you go I know how it feels I'm in line with you Breakdown with the voice in the crowd Draw away and then the change Twenty four could be all that's in store © 2006 Andrew Day. We never made peace and that hurts even more All the smallest waves All those promises could all be so fair Life in an ordinary world Never lived up to the tears that we were served Inspiration proved to be the hardest gift of our humankind Simple pain was easy to diagnose with hope But a broken life is too far gone Did they let you go I know how it feels I'm in line with you Breakdown with the voice in the crowd Draw away and then the change Twenty four could be all that's in store We never made peace and that hurts even more All the smallest waves All those promises could all be so fair Life in an ordinary world Never lived up to the tears that we were served

Questions 03:53
QUESTIONS You came to me with a rose in one hand And a question behind your back I watched you laugh then I felt the pain behind your eyes When I went to sleep You shook me and the whole world moved I may be silent but my mind is racing now Lost in the crowds I may not move but every single thought it shows You know it shows You know it does And when the morning comes You know that it will be Another change of heart Confuse me and lose me And here we are again We lie awake Anticipate We lie awake And ruminate A day a week before I thought we failed before I thought that we'd failed We'd failed before I may be silent but my mind is racing now Lost in the clouds I may not move but every single thought it shows You know it shows You know it does And here we are again And if we balance this Will it roll on the side That helps us sleep tonight © 2006 Andrew Day.

Warm Face 05:11
WARM FACE A satellite and it's in your eye Its sunrise so watch the sky tonight There could be a show for all to see I'll be there , well all be there In winter charades In autumn parades you take the streets Feel the atmosphere beguile and turn up a crooked smile Warm face promises everything And today it lets us sing So throw your heavy hearted lines Stop the play and let's begin You should know those faces come and go You are here, you'll always be here A meeting place The world has closed its streets People come out and watch the day go by In winter charades In autumn parades you take the streets Feel the atmosphere beguile and turn up a crooked smile Warm face promises everything And today it lets us sing So throw your heavy hearted lines Stop the play and let's begin © 2006 Andrew Day.

IN DARK SUNLIGHT Life it rolls on now And while we age with lines I can hear the sea in the distance And its only in my mind I watch you fly your kite On a warm and stormy night I drew your face on the silver moon And it said I'll meet you soon We were just playing out the days They were numbered yet beautiful I've slept and watch this life unfold It's picturesque and spent and high World's exploding now It all moves on And these Dreams of better things Cross our paths In the summer breeze Karma plays with the waves She's chasing the white line She's rolling on a bed of stars And dreaming every night A streamer of dark sunlight Splashed across the sky The endless day drew closed And left us running for our lives We were just playing out the days They were numbered yet beautiful I've slept and watch this life unfold It's picturesque and spent and high World's exploding now It all moves on And these dreams of better things cross our paths In the summer breeze © 2006 Andrew Day

THE EMPTY BEACH On a december night we nearly died It seems so long ago now, but I still cry Fate changes nothing at all - a single move It can point in any direction but we're still close The wrong place at the right time A sad fortune, but fortune nonetheless A sad beginning somewhere 1996 And when I face the street, it never looks the same We made our start on a tragic note but it drew us together I called out to you I'm so glad you heard It really hurts when they say you did the wrong thing No one can recreate two moments in time Try to control a tailspin I tell you its hard Try to control what's out of control And you will understand A sad beginning somewhere 1996 And when I face the street, it never looks the same We made our start on a tragic note but it drew us together I called out to you I'm so glad you heard

about

"The Sound Movement's nearly ten-year history together (first as acquaintances in other groups then from 2001 as their own trio) gives their debut album a lot of experience to draw on, not least of which is their haphazard way of making their way around the world from Australia to Japan to the U.K.. But the last port of call is where they were able to release their debut album in the end, with the short-but-makes-the-most-of-it Ichi Go Ichi E compiling a variety of recordings that result in an enjoyable first formal effort. If nothing else, the timing given the music world at large couldn't be better for them -- their crisp, bright turn around guitar-driven post-punk recalls similar U.K. '80s music obsessives like the Black Watch, who the trio almost uncannily clone on the opening "A Million Lost Dogs." From there the album's eight songs make their rich way -- not as strident and dramatic as, say, early Echo & the Bunnymen or the Chameleons, but neither as tensely wound up as the Comsat Angels, the Sound Movement emphasize a cooler restraint even while keeping the pace brisk and their arrangements busy. Frontman Andrew Day's guitar playing takes the lead at many points over his singing, but that's to the band's credit, as he sounds much more like he's flowing with the music rather than declaiming over it. Sometimes his phrases cut through with sudden impact, as on the descending chorus of "When We Fight Like This," possibly the album's highlight. The rhythm section of Kat Johnston and Josh Gross similarly blend into the guitar wash rather than cutting through it, but Johnston's bass sometimes steps to the fore to provide melodic contrast, as on "Modern Condition." "On Your Peaceful Day" is another sharp standout, especially due to Day's surf-leaning guitar on the extended conclusion, a nice touch set against the calmer sounds around it."

All Music Guide

“A wonderful mix of early Bunnymen meets Ride coupled with a dash of The Church”

Music Week UK Sept 2004

“Rarely can a band pull off the darker pop vibe of the 80s without sounding bland or pointless. The Sound Movement seem to have taken the sound of that era and moulded it into their own liking – crafting interesting cuts that sound wholly modern as well as retro” -
